In response to Heather's article, This really shows the impact of the swing states on the presidential candidates. It also shows the impact of religion on politics. With people who vote for a particular party or candidate based mainly on religious morals and beliefs, it can completely change an election. Also the impact of minor parties on elections. One candidate can change the entire election making one candidate win because they took a state away from the candidates.

In response to the article that Heather wrote about, I believe that McMullin possibly winning Utah could potentially be a very big problem for Donald Trump. Trump, who is already down in the polls, needs these 6 electoral votes from Utah because in the end the 6 electoral votes could possibly be the difference between either him or Hillary Clinton becoming the next president of the United States. It’s very surprising to me that a man with such little resources like McMullin is even putting up a fight with the big guns like Trump, but as i read more into the article one could clearly see that the people of Utah are not fond of the way Trump presents himself and his views on Mormons. If McMullin comes out of Utah with a win this would be the first time since 1968 that a Candidate not a part of either the Republican or Democratic party has won a state’s electoral votes. In the end, if this happened while Clinton and Trump are running for president there would be no surprise due to all of the controversy surrounding both of them.

Trump: 'Now it's up to the American people to deliver justice' www.cnn.com/2016/11/06/politics/trump-now-its-up-to-the-american-people-to-deliver-justice/index.html
Summary:The FBI reopened Hilary Clinton's case involving "650,000" emails, and she was found innocent once again. Trump argued "Hillary Clinton is guilty. She knows it, the FBI knows it, the people know it, and now it's up to the American people to deliver justice at the ballot box on November 8,". Trump also claims "a rigged system was protecting Clinton". After all these allegations by Trump he finds a way to capitalize by saying "deliver justice at the ballot box". Trump responded to the FBI's announcement on Sunday in front of a crowded amphitheater in Detroit. How it Connects: This last push for Trump may win him the title of Mr. President. As we learned the electoral college elects the president so it is up to them. The electoral college was created by the founding fathers as a way to get rid of corrupted officials, so maybe the electoral college will finally do what it was created for. This election will be decided by the electoral college. This is because our electoral college wont trust a president like Hilary. My Opinion: Because this review of Hilary's e-mails was so close to election day, I believe Trump will win the general election. Hilary would not be a good fit for president, she is not trust worthy. I also think the FBI let Hilary off the hook for political reasons. It would be impossible for the FBI to thoroughly look through everyone of the e-mails. Another possibility is the FBI found something they don't want America to find out.

In response to Lucas's article, I would have to disagree with Trump and those arguing that it would be impossible for the FBI to review all those e-mails in eight days. Of those 650,000 e-mails, which happened to be on a completely different person's computer, only a portion of them were connected to Hillary in any way. The FBI could easily use programs to sort through the e-mails and pick out each of the ones that were either sent, received by, or mentioning Hillary. It would be even easier to compare them to the e-mails that they already have read through, considering that many of them could be duplicates they've already reviewed for illegal activity. The FBI has once again not recommended filing charges against Hillary, and I would have to agree. Though Hillary has made big mistakes, this one among them, I believe she is far more trustworthy than Trump, a man who publicly lies about ridiculous, bigoted things he's said when they're still up for everyone to see on his Twitter page, or documented in videos and interviews. Unfortunately, Hillary did lose the election, and this update could possibly have been part of what deterred people from voting for her, and even caring to vote at all.

Trump to supporters harassing minorities: 'Stop it'. www.cnn.com/2016/11/13/politics/donald-trump-60-minutes-first-interview/index.htmlSummary: In this article Trump states that he is disturbed and deeply saddened by his supporters harassing and making rude racial slurs at those against Trump. He also criticized the protests going on between both sides and states that it shouldn't be done and is also uncalled for. How it conencts: This relates to our class because we have been talking about elections and presidency and all this uproar started after Trump was elected as our president. Reflection: As much as i dont really care for Trump i do agree with his view in this article, people are getting out of hand with all the racial slurs written on building and calling minorites or Hillary supporters rude names or just plain making fun of them. I also believe that all these protests are uncalled for, and while you are free to share your voice and express yourself, some people have been taking it too far.

Gun Advocate John Lott: It's Too Late for Gun Control www.newsmax.com/US/john-lott-gun-control-too-late-progressives/2016/11/18/id/759627/Summary: John Lott, a gun enthusiast says “It is too late for gun control”. Lott has noticed a huge increase in murder rates in Countries that have gun control laws. If criminals want to kill someone they will either find other ways to do it, or just buy an illegal gun that's unknown or lost to the government through the black market. Lott’s greatest argument would be “Guns should have never been invented then if we can't own them now”. Once a mass production of something is made, it is very hard to find every single one of these products made. There will always be stragglers and ways for criminals to get their hands on weapons to do harm to a community. How it connects: This connects to our class conversations about our new “Amendment” unit. This particular story connects with the second amendment which is, the right to bear arms. Although it has not been covered in class yet, it is a significant amendment that will be discussed. My Opinion: I personally think that he is right about the gun laws. People use guns for many other things than to kill someone. Many people hunt, do competition shooting, use guns for self defense, and more. I think that it would not help to make gun restrictions, If anything it will make them worse. The honest good people would end up doing as the government says and not have a right to carry a concealed weapon, while the criminals would still carry these weapons if they wanted to.

Kanye rants on politics, cuts 1 show short, cancels another www.cnn.com/2016/11/20/us/kanye-ends-sacramento-show-early/index.htmlOn Saturday night Kanye West, during his Sacramento California show, went on a politics driven rant and then proceed to cancel the rest of his show. This rant consisted Yeezy talking about fake Facebook news, how he was stunned Hillary didn't win, and called out radio hosts for supporting trump. Wile Kanye said he didn't vote this election cycle he said that if he did he would have cased his ballot for Trump. All of the concert patrons get full refunds on their tickets but still missed out on the rest of Kanye's show. Personally i believe that Kanye has the right to do this at his show but it is not the respectable thing to do. He wasted thousands of peoples night and money after he got upset about the election. He should have just done the show like he had been.

I agree with Sidney that Kanye has the right to voice his opinion on stage if he chooses, but I don't think it was a very popular choice for him to make. I actually think it made his points less effective when he said he didn't even vote in the election, but if he did, he would've voted for Trump. I think it is only fair to complain about the outcome if you exercise your right to vote. I don't think it was appropriate for him to do this during his show, even though they did get full refunds, but he was able to talk to thousands of people by doing it. In my opinion, if Kanye really wants to run for president in 2020, then he should probably start getting his act together, vote, and stop coming across as unintelligent.

I agree with Sidney that while he has the right to do this, it was still an unpopular thing to say. Kanye did not only complain about the election (which he did not vote in), but he also complained about more of a personal problem with Jay-Z. In my opinion, I do not think that it was appropriate for him to take away people's time just to complain. Not to mention, CNN also reports that Kanye had showed up late for his show in the first place. Adding on to Emily's response, if he truly wants to run for president in 2020, he should not harm his public image as he did here. The American people can not trust someone who has to be hospitalized simply because he can not keep his temper in check.

I agree with Sidney that Kanye does have the right to explain politics at his concert, But that is not what people payed to see. They payed to see and hear him rant about politics for the whole night. I don't think it is illegal because Kanye was expressing his freedom of speech. The place that he was Performing in did not cut the mic, or tell him to stop so it can not be illegal. Though that was a very childish thing to do considering he more than likely lost fans for wasting their money. This is not the first time Kanye has had an outbreak like this before, He needs to learn how to control himself.

I agree with Sidney that he has the right to explain his opinion about politics on the election at his concert. If he wanted to rant about politics, he should have gave the fans a warning he was or waited till the end for if people wanted to leave or stay if they wanted to listen to listen what he has to stay. That would be better rather than having people come to a concert that didn't even happen. His act of complaining was like a kid not getting what e gets for Christmas, he just can't except what he his given that his best for his country. If he complains much more about this, he should just run for President in the next election and see if he can fix all the political problems that he doesn't agree with.

I agree with Sidney because although Kanye did have the right to say what he believed about the election and that his speaking is technically protected by law, it was not the correct time or place to be speaking his opinion to people who don't necessarily care to listen. If I spent money to see someone perform, I would expect that they performed and that something dumb like his opinion wouldn't get in the way of that. In the article, it says that fans left "disappointed" and rightfully so. He "only performed two songs" before going on his rant about politics and te media. This doesn't surprise me though given Kanye's newfound love for America and how he is going to run for 2020 despite being the biggest A$$ in America. (Sorry Kruz ) But really. Can you imagine Kim Kardashian as the First Lady???

I agree with Sidney because everything that Kanye said is 100% legal to state to the general public. Clearly these actions were completely unjustified and inappropriate based on the fact that this rant was done at a concert with tens of thousands of people who were there to listen to music and not talk about politics. As a fan I could imagine a great amount of respect being lost for Kanye as a musician but especially as a person and a possible politician in the near future. His political rant about the loss of Hillary Clinton looks even more idiotic knowing the fact that he didn't even vote in the election. All in all Kanye better start cleaning up his act otherwise his political run in 2020 will be a very short one.

Trump falsely claims 'millions of people who voted illegally' cost him popular vote - www.cnn.com/2016/11/27/politics/donald-trump-voter-fraud-popular-vote/index.htmlSummary: Donald Trump is at it again starting more drama and not being satisfied enough with a victory in the presidential election. Trump stated that there were millions of people who voted illegally preventing him from winning the popular election. States like New Hampshire, Virginia, and California seem to be on his radar as states who voted illegally. With no true evidence Trump once again is pulling these acquisitions out of thin air. Pending a recount that continues to be pushed by Donald Trump these "illegal votes" will be nothing but a myth until proven otherwise. Connects: This connects to our Government class because it's both directly correlated with politics (our next president) and one's ability to express their freedom of speech on a extremely high platform. My opinion: In my opinion I feel like Donald Trump needs to swallow his pride and accept the fact that he did not win the popular vote. Either way he will be president due to the fact that he won the electoral college. Acknowledging Hillary as the popular vote winner would bring a stronger unity between the two parties and hopefully provide the people of the United States with a better view of their new president.

In response to Nolans article, i agree completely with nolan's opinion on how he should swallow his pride. In the article it shows one of Donalds tweets that says, "i won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally." which proves that his pride is so high because he already won the presidency and is going to be president. He falsely accused millions of people even though hes already going to be president.
