In response to Olivia's post about an article titled "Russia 'is warned' about tampering attempts on US election systems" I believe that Russia is tampering with the election through hacking into government systems. However If they want to tamper with the election votes themselves they would have to corrupt some of the voters in electoral college and go against Obama's wishes to ruin relations with the US. I doubt this has happened since it does not involve electronic hacking but instead our government officials to manipulate. As for the civil war in Syria I do think they are shady in not working with us cooperatively (as always) and if they truly wanted to make amends with us they would enforce a cease-fire, and provide aid to the side they are supporting in war torn Syria.

In response to Stephen McDaniel article "Obama vetoes controversial 9/11 bill" I find it very interesting that this veto out of the 12 veto Obama has done is getting overrode. I agree with Cassidy with the fact that how many overrides congress has done on Obama shows how good he was as a president. I also have very mixed feeling about whether or not I agree with the Override that congress id going to do should be done. My thoughts like Obama stated that it could "open US diplomats and service-members to lawsuit" witch to me is kinda a scary thing, it is basically saying that doing this override like they are doing, they could sue us back. But i also agree that they should be able to because they need to take responsiblity to their actions

www.cnn.com/2016/10/01/politics/donald-trump-hillary-clinton-health/index.html Trump brings up Clinton's health, and questions if she is "loyal" to Bill This article is about a speech that Donald Trump gave this past Saturday, in which all he did was aim attacks towards Hillary Clinton. The article shows comments he has said about her in the past, but also shows all of the things he said about her this past weekend. The comment that gathered the attention the most from everyone, is he went into saying that Hillary Clinton is probably unfaithful to her husband, and that she has no reason to be because of his past affairs. Not only did Donald Trump say this without any evidence, but he also said it in front of millions of people. He also started mimicking her because she stumbled off from a 9/11 event just a few weeks ago because she had been diagnosed with pneumonia and overheated at the ceremony. He mocked her and made comments about how she couldn't even get to her car without somebody there to support her while she was walking. I chose this article because I thought it was interesting to read after we had just watched the debate and between watching the debate and reading this article, I have become a lot more informed and interested in what is going on between our presidential candidates. I personally think that the things he said about Hillary Clinton were unnecessary and that it could potentially cost him a lot of voters and a lot of people's respect.

In response to Cassidy's article This election seems like the candidates are both trying to kill each other enough to get across the finish line, but what there not realizing is that a majority of the american people just see this as a childish act and both candidates are losing a lot of respect from the public and probably other world leaders. Comments like this are unnecessary and most people would probably agree that they'd prefer to see the candidates addressing real issues rather than making fun of Hillary's health and blasting Donald with all of those TV commercials. This election is going to stand out as the most childish attempt at office yet, and I don't think we want these people in charge of the nuclear football.

In response to Cassidy's article, I think that this article makes Trump seem incredibly unprofessional and rude. The fact that he had "prepared remarks on his teleprompter" and yet he still talked about Hillary Clinton and things that had nothing to do with the presidential election. The things he accused Hillary Clinton of, such as not being faithful to Bill Clinton, was just made up with no facts or evidence. I think that this article was a great one to show the lack of understanding Trump has about our country and the problems it is facing. Because of this lack of understanding,Trump relies on trying to make his opponent seem emotionally and physically unable to run a country. Trump even made a comment about Hillary having pneumonia and mocked her stumbling to her car. This shows how selfish he is. Instead of being concerned about her health, he mocked her and tried to use it as a reason she is incapable to run our country. I think overall this article was Trump being under prepared and trying to make her look bad, rather than making himself look good.

Response to Cassidy's article, This article talked about how Trump spent his time trying to take down his rival, Hillary Clinton. The article mentions how he "trained his focus Saturday night not on the issues that have lifted his candidacy...". He wanted to focus on Hillary Clinton and all that she has done wrong. He had described her in many awful ways. Personally, I don't think this makes Trump look professional at all. He later went on to mention how Clinton wasn't able to walk 15 feet to her car after the 9/11 ceremony. He made her sound as though she was intoxicated, while Hillary's doctor later said she had a pneumonia and was "overheated". Trump didn't stop there with his rude remarks. He went on to question if Hillary is even loyal to Bill. He called both of them out in his speech making comments about "Bill Clinton's sex scandals". Throughout this article, I learned how far Trump was going to go to make Hillary look awful. Instead of building up his reputation, talking about becoming president, and discussing important things about our country, he just shot down Hillary the whole time. I think it was a waste of Trump's campaign. Trump did not handle this situation like an adult, he was very rude to Secretary Clinton and acted immature about this whole process. I do not think this interview will help him with votes at all, if anything more people might vote for Hillary now. They saw the true side of Trump.

After reading Cassidy’s article, “Trump brings up Clinton’s health, questions if she’s ‘loyal’ to Bill,” I think it is important to bring up Trump’s attitude toward Hillary as a woman, and to all women in general. Throughout his campaign and within this article, there are multiple quotes made by Trump about Hillary that could be taken the wrong way, and as a woman myself, I find his behavior offensive and unacceptable as a potential leader of our country. Saying things such as she “could be crazy”, that she “lacks the stamina to be president”, that “she’s an incompetent woman”, and that “she’s never done anything meaningful” is extremely degrading. These statements also fit the stereotypical (and inaccurate) views that women are weak and not as smart as men. Trump doesn’t even bring into account how much experience Hillary has in politics, he can’t see past the fact that she is a woman. On top of all of those rude comments, Trump had the nerve to accuse Hillary of being unfaithful to her husband, which is based on absolutely no evidence. I think Trump needs to realize that the percentage of women in the United States is higher than the percentage of men, and that he should probably start to have some kind of filter on what he says and definitely apologize for the things he already has said if he wants any women to vote for him. Given how focused Hillary’s campaign is on promoting equality for women, I think this has been one of Trump’s greatest missteps.

abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/police-chief-officers-killed-hurt-shooter-large-42676323 (couldn't link it, sorry) Father: Suspect in Officers' Slaying Wanted to Shoot Police The article is about a shooting that happened in Palm Springs, California. 26-year-old John Felix was inside his parents' house with a gun. They were hesitant to call police because, as the parents say, he wanted to shoot them [the police]. When the police arrived, John suddenly pulled a gun and opened fire, killing two police officers: Jose Gilbert Vega (63) and Lesley Zerebny (27). Another officer was wounded in the shootout. Eventually, police shot a chemical agent into the house and smoked Felix out. He was then arrested and taken to the hospital. This more or less relates to the right to bear arms (when we were talking about the Republican v. Democrat stances on gun laws). This man was in a gang and could potentially have gotten a gun from one of his buddies, in which case the wait period doesn't apply. He would've had no time to cool off and think logically about what he wanted to do in that moment. Cases like these are why stronger gun laws, though not wanted, are needed. Personally, I would be all for protecting the right to bear arms, but in cases like these, I am willing to grudgingly admit maybe we need more laws to keep people like John Felix from doing stupid things like starting a shootout with police. I believe this will strengthen the argument for implementing more gun laws, maybe to attempt to prevent gang members from having access to guns, but with some unknown gang members, that would be rather difficult. What do you all think this could lead to?

In response to Rachel's post, I agree that with cases like this one, having stronger gun laws would help keep things like this under control, but you have to think about how these gang member's are getting these guns. Yes they can go to a store and buy one but most likely they won't be able to if they have had a bad history with them. Most gang members get their guns through the black market which classify's the guns as "ghost guns" which are non traceable. So if we do get stronger gun laws it could possibly start more of these cases, and gangs would be able to get guns even easier.

www.cnn.com/2016/10/10/opinions/religious-right-hypocrisy-over-trump-tape-barber/index.htmlTrump tape reveals religious right hypocrisy This is an opinion article and therefore is more biased and opinionated than factual. However, I think that follows the topic of political ideologies and parties which we are discussing in class. Still, the article does focus on the recent release of a 2005 tape revealing Trump talking about getting away with sexual assault. It then stems into talking about Christian conservatives, key supporters of Trump, how they stood by Trump's political views and actions he plans to take, and how this new reveal may lead them to no longer do so. Towards the end it transitions into a longer, opinionated talk on religious freedom. One aspect this article covers in particular is political ideologies. Multiple times the author mentions "Christian conservatives" and "the religious right" being supporters of the Republican nominee Donald Trump. In the 4th paragraph he discusses, albeit in an opinionated way, Trumps right/conservative views on border control, voting laws, Affordable Care Act, minimum wage, and gun control and how the religious groups supposedly stood by them. Later on he mentions Trump's "embrace of a "pro-life" platform." Finally, the idea of religious freedom and how it has changed today is elaborated. In my opinion, what Trump said was morally wrong and disgusting and is not how a president should talk, but it did happen a long time ago and may be no longer relevant because I could believe that Trump has changed in that time. I found it interesting how Trump tried to change the conversation very quickly and nonchalantly dismissed it all as locker room talk when it was brought up in the debate, but he said he was embarrassed and not proud of it. I think that this tape could have very negative effects on his support.

Issues in Hillary Clinton’s Past Leave Her Muted in Furor Over Donald Trump www.nytimes.com/2016/10/16/us/politics/hillary-clinton-campaign-donald-trump.htmlThis article discusses how Hillary Clinton has had very little to say regarding all of the talk surrounding the sexual assault accusations against Donald Trump and women’s rights that has been happening lately. Even though Hillary has been known to be a feminist in the past (this article gives the example of her “Human rights are women’s rights” speech back when she was first lady), and her campaign is built on many promises geared toward the women in this country, the author of this article thinks her silence on this topic stems from her own husband’s sexual misconduct. The article takes the position that it would be almost hypocritical of her to denounce Trump’s sexual assaults when she played a role in countering the women who accused Bill Clinton of sexual misconduct. The author of this article thinks it is politically wise of Hillary to avoid this discussion since she is currently ahead of Trump in the polls. While she touched on this subject a little during the last debate, she mostly has been changing the topic from just women to all of the different groups Trump has offended. This article also touches on how instead of Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama gave an angry and powerful speech regarding the latest news about Trump. Lately in class we have been discussing the different stances Republicans and Democrats take on their party platforms regarding things like social issues, the economy, and foreign policy. Women’s rights, which is heavily discussed in this article, would fall under social issues. When it comes to women’s rights, Democrats take a more liberal stance (their pro-choice stance on abortion would be a good example of this). Since Hillary is a Democrat, it makes sense that many of her policies are geared towards women, covering issues such as equal pay, childcare, and paid family leave. In my opinion, I think that sexual assault is not something that should be joked about, and I was personally offended when Trump just wrote off what he said as “locker room talk.” I wish that Hillary, as a woman, would have said more regarding the topic, but I can see where some events in her past could make people question her intentions. I am glad that Michelle Obama was willing to speak out against Trump, and I agree with the quote the article includes from her speech: “I can’t believe… that a candidate for president of the United States has bragged about sexually assaulting women.”

In response to Becca's article, I also think it is smart of Hillary Clinton to change the subject or avoid the subject when she is asked about Donald Trump's sexual assault accusations. I think that if she were to make a comment about it, either Donald Trump or some sort of media reporter would find a way to relate it back to her and her staying with her husband after his affair become open to the public. I also think that because Hillary is more likely to win the election rather than Trump, I think she knows that if she makes a comment about his sexual assault accusations, she could potentially lose votes.
Like Becca, I also think that sexual assault is something that should not be joked about or taken lightly, and I think with Trump joking about this stuff and being proud of it, many people are changing their opinions and now believe that he is not presidential worthy. I think he is losing a lot of respect from many people, especially women, and losing many potential votes that he could have had otherwise.

In regards to Rebecca's article, I think Hillary is being smart about not answering questions that have to do with Trumps sexual assault scandle because everyone knows that as soon as she makes a statement about it, Trump or someone in the media will jump on it and make a comment about Bill Clinton's scandle with Monica Lewinsky. Also, if she made a statement some of her voters or followers might see it and be mad about it which could lead to her losing votes. Much like Trump who has lost a lot of votes because of this whole scandle of his own.
Finally I agree that this is no joking matter. Trump is just making a fool of himself by joking about it and seeming to be somewhat proud of it. This just shows how Trump is a womanizer and not worthy of being the President of the United States.

Going off of Becca's article, Trump currently has a worse reputation with people than he has before. When these sexual assault wrongdoings arose, Hillary kept quiet because of her past with Bill Clinton. It was a huge scandal when Hillary stayed with Bill after his affair with Monica Lewinsky. Hillary did not want to draw negative attention to herself since Trump was already in a bad position. I think it was a good idea for Hillary to not speak out about it because she wouldn't want to have the possibility of losing votes for any reason.
Personally, I think Trump did not help himself whatsoever with the election. He has said some very negative statements regarding women and many other different types of races. It will most likely result in him losing more votes and just increasing the chance of Hillary winning the election. I understand why Hillary stayed quiet and in the shadow with what has been going on. I know I would not want to get involved in any of this either. However, I did enjoy that Michelle Obama talked to society about this major problem. She proved some great points and said how she felt and I think it will definitely affect the outcome of the election.

In response to Beccas article, I think that this article can be taken in many different directions. One being the direction Becca took in saying Hillary is right to stay calm, and i agree with that. However, There is another side to what Hillary is not doing. She is not speaking for herself, she has Mrs.Obama do the talking for her. Also, she is not saying anything. By being silent and changing the subject wen asked this could be causing more talk about what she ISNT saying rather than what she could be saying. As a well known feminist she should take this very seriously and share her stance on the case but since she has been caught in this mess of 'tolerating'(what Mrs.Obama said is unacceptable in this very article) her husbands sexual misconduct. This could be good or bad for her campaign but as said before, the polls are not being negatively affected by it so if i were Hillary i would also stay quiet on this topic to avoid ridicule. Personally I believe what trump said is disgusting and should not be taken lightly. Both candidates are not ideal as one may possibly sexually harass women and feel that is fine and the other is a liar that cant stand her ground on a political topic.
